For Parents
A practical investment in skills & qualities that shape long-term outcomes.
The purpose of the 50 Moves Ahead programme is to set up your son or daughter for adult life. That means kick-starting and fast-tracking the development of the transferrable skills and personal qualities that determine successful outcomes in the real world.
Underprepared
Most young adults are taught what to think, not how to think. The education system provides them with knowledge, not skills.
In 2026, UK employers have expressed growing concern that recent graduates are increasingly lacking "durable" human skills. Recent reports highlight a widening gap between academic achievement and workplace readiness. (Don't take our word for it, click here)
More competition, less jobs
In the UK, 54% of 18 year olds go to university to get a degree. In the USA it's 56% and in Canada it's 62%. That's why a degree is now a baseline, not a differentiator.
More graduates than at any point in history are competing for fewer and fewer graduate level jobs. That's why I always encourage my students to gain work experience as well as their degree. But even the work experience is now not enough to stand out.
In December 2025, James Reed the CEO of Reed, one of UK's largest and most significant recruitment firms, stated that graduate jobs have reduced massively, citing a drop from 180,000 to 55,000 in the last three years (partly due to the impact of AI).
What next?
In a 2015 survey, 52% of students agreed/strongly agreed with the statement, “I have no idea what I want to do with my career”. While that specific 52% figure is a landmark statistic, more recent reports from 2025 and early 2026 indicate that career uncertainty remains high or has even worsened.
Addressing the gap
The clinchers that get the winners the interview, the job, and the promotion are not the degree (which all candidates have) but skills and qualities such as:
-
Written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills
-
Likeability
-
Methodical & innovative thought process
-
Creativity
-
Problem solving
-
Critical thinking
-
People skills & team compatibility
-
Work ethic
-
Confidence
-
Attitude.
These skills and qualities are not just important for employers, they're the ones that determine successful outcomes in relationships and overall in life!
No university students get trained in these.
50 Moves Ahead exists to address that gap.
What's needed to get ahead

The elements above are how the world (especially employers) wants us to add value.
A degree only provides knowledge, which is static and passive.
50 Moves Ahead can't provide relevant work experience but it can add significant initial layers to all the other elements.
That's what differentiates those who are trained and coached on this programme.
Why this matters
Early adult decisions compound.
Career direction, relationships, confidence, and habits formed now often determine outcomes years later.
Without guidance, many capable young people:
-
drift into unsuitable work
-
lose confidence through repeated rejection
-
take years to develop judgement and self-awareness
-
never fully realise their potential
This programme compresses that learning into a structured, supervised environment.
What makes this programme different
-
Skills-based, not just static knowledge
-
Centred on real-world impact
-
Small group sizes to ensure personal attention
-
Grounded in psychology, coaching, and real-world experience
-
Focused on responsibility, judgement and self-management
-
Designed specifically for present and future economic & technological reality
This is not therapy, and it is not academic.
It is practical preparation for adult life.
Return on investment
The cost of the programme from September 2026 will start at £1,499 which is modest compared to:
-
years spent in unsuitable roles
-
repeated career changes
-
loss of confidence or direction
-
expensive corrective interventions later
Many parents see this as preventative development — similar to professional training, but at a formative stage.
The one-time cost for the invitation-only programmes in May and June 2026 are £599.
